Woodfest, Kinmel Estate, Bodelwyddan –> North Wales

It’s late Friday evening by the time we get there. Just enough time to set up and take some moody pics of an empty showground.

The next morning: sun. Finally!!! ^_^
Woodfest can best be described as an interactive festival, a step back in time to see craftsmen and women carry out traditional crafts and skills – creating beautiful, fascinating and functional art, sculptures, objects, buildings & more. Well that’s what it said on their web site anyway. We were there to help man the NEWSAR Mountain Search & Rescue Team stand and launch loadsa balloons to generate some cash.

  1. Woodfest looks like a curious mix of old-fashioned crafts in a very 21 Century festival context. It also looks like great fun. How did the fund-raising go? Magnificent photos as ever.

    • We were really lucky with the weather Mark and there were some very strange tanning lines to be seen ^_^ I’m not entirely sure how much money was raised altogether but am pleased to report that Mr. B was named top fundraiser and that we are therefore now the very proud owners of a Black Diamond snow shovel….. ^_^ On the photo note: am FINALLY attending a photography workshop in the Lake District this weekend, am sooooooooo excited!!!! ^_^

      • Ooooh – enjoy. If it’s good I’d be interested in the details.

    • Stop it, making me blush ^_^ Unusual event indeed. If you fancy a trip to the North camping in a seriously beautiful spot nr Bodelwyddan (Kinmel Estate, gorgeous!) then put this in your diary for next year and we’ll hook up or summing. How weird would that be, mwahahahaha ^_^)

    • I’d never heard of it before?! Apparently *timbersports* are all the rage and these guys were seriously competitive – my personal highlight was an 80 year old climbing up the highest pole in miles to raise money for a cancer charity, brilliant effort, I can’t even fathom myself do that right now and I’m half his age (oops, did I just say that out aloud??? hehe)

      • Tsk tsk. What a give away. I would never have believed it :-) The wood festivals I know of seem mostly to be restricted to wood turning – very traditional.

    • clearly too much of a good thing (= sun) is never good as it’s back to rain and wind, yay…….where has your trip taken you lately? Or are you back home now? Guess even honeymoons must come to an end one day :(

    • Thank you ^_^ We were really lucky with the weather for a change. We have just come back from a weekend in the Lake District where we had heavy rain and super strong winds. Luckily for us we will soon be able to *enjoy* even more rain on the longest day of the year. Yay……
Hope all’s well in Switzerland ^_^
