SAS hang-out – Brecon Beacons, Mid Wales –> The Anniversary Series

On our second anniversary we feel like playing with the big boys and dancing the Pan y Fan Dance ^_^ [Disclaimer: no Babs’es were hurt in the dancing of the Fan Dance. We only walked up once and we did it slowly. There was no schlepping 18 kg Bergens and no time limit. If you wanna do the real thing – like Mr B – look here. Or here. No sueing vanplusfour if you end up crying like a baby though! ^_^]

I don’t know the story behind the plane crash [but if YOU do – spill!] and although it all looks pretty harmless when you get started I know one thing for sure: I’d hate to do the Fan Dance for real! But I loved every second of our leisurely walk up! You kinda feel awed. And inspired. These super brave fit men. And you’re on their playground. Wondering if you could do it. If you had to?

  1. Haven’t been up there in many a year, but surely it’s always crowded? How did you get it all to yourselves, even for a moment? Smashing pics again. And two anniversaries with blue sky – somebody up there likes you!

    • 2 years ago Mr. B hung out abroad a lot and so we were able to sneak off mid week when he was home and bored ^_^ We literally saw maybe 2 people around?! #luckycampers
PS: just checked the forecast for the weekend. You don’t need to be a scientist to work out there will be no blue sky pictures this year….

    • I still don’t know the full story. We were trying to re-enact the *woman crawls out of crashed plane* shot but it became VERY apparent that acting is not my forte ^_^ So we decided to show dogs pictures instead, ha!
Any more progress on the flat hunt in Dubai?

  2. You obviously managed to find a quiet day to go up there – it is too often buzzing like the M4. Long time since I’ve been but a stunning place. My niece recently did the Fan Dance (in snow) for charity – couldn’t believe she managed it, or that it even en ahead considering the weather. Then again nothing stops the SAS or . . . my niece!

    • Wow, I take my hat off to your niece! To do the dance…….in snow……pretty damn impressive!!!! ^_^ We once took our 15 yr old nephew up Snowdon and he didn’t half show us up. I think it took him, what, 5 seconds and no sweat to get up???? ^_^
And yes, we went up mid week when there was hardly anyone around #smartwelshpeople

  3. Wow, chilling… What a great post Mrs.B, you guys are Bad Ass! In fact your dogs are more Bad Ass that most people… Beautiful images (and I know I write that a lot) but the views are stunning.

    • Why thank you Mr. K ^_^ I am told the mountain is usually as busy as one of the main motorways across Wales so I guess we were lucky – we turned up mid week [that might have helped] and had the lot to ourselves. Otherwise I might have had to show inappropriately dressed weekend hikers instead of gorgeous blue skies, ha!
PS; hope you didn’t laugh too loudly at the *886 m* next to bad ass dog Henry – I assume the mountains in your playground are [cough] *somewhat* higher. And as we all know – size matters ^_^
      Until soon my friend,
      Mrs B [anniversary/birthday girl]

  4. My local hills the Beacons so great to see another blog celebrating them. A route from the north is a little longer but much more interesting and Cribyn is an even better mountain. If you have a head for heights there is a path that traverses it’s north face, spectacular.
Fascinating that plane crash, wonder what the story was? Fantastic way to celebrate an anniversary

    • I loved the Brecon Beacons and we will be back one day, for sure! Like I predicted, there were NO blue skies this anniversary but I cannot wait to get Year 3 out the way as it was pretty tame compared to Year 4 which was simply EPIC ^_^

    • Finally!!! Somebody sent me the link!!! yay!! ^_^ It’s been said before that I was lucky to catch those shots without anybody around; I guess it’s the same principle as up here on the Horseshoe Pass. Where are you from *Betty*?
